Imphal, October 22 2023:
A team of Special Commando Manipur Police apprehended three Myanmarese nationals, while conducting foot patrolling in and around Moreh town around 9 am on Sunday.
On verification, the three identified themselves as Khamkhenthang Guite (25) s/o Paochinlen Guite of Namphalong Sawbua II, Myanmar; Aung Mae (30) s/o Mae Aao of Tamu Sawbua X, Myanmar and Aung Aung (25) s/o Uoo Mao Mao of Tamu Sawbua XI, Myanmar.
According to a police report, the trio was sus-pected of stealing furniture items/electric generators from the houses which were burnt down during the recent clashes.
They were later handed over to Moreh Police Station for further verification.
Mentioned may be made here that the trio's arrest has come amid objections and protests by some organisations against the deployment of state police and commandos in Moreh town.
Meanwhile, with regard to the arrests, CM Biren on social media remarked that it is apparent that the organisations do not want the presence of state forces in Moreh so that many of these Myanmar nationals can be brought into the country illegally.
The state government cannot keep silent on such an alarming issue of illegal migration, he added.
