Dipu Gangmei calls for dialogue to resolve unrest

Nungba MLA and HAC chairman Dinganglung (Dipu) Gangmei has strongly called for resolving the ongoing unrest in Manipur through dialogue to bring back peace and harmony.
Dipu Gangmei made this appeal during a felicitation function organised to honour Golmei Gaiphushillu Kabui on the latter's appointment as a judge of the High Court of Manipur.
Attending as chief guest of the event jointly organised by Zeliangrong United (AMN), Zeliangrong Football Association, Kabui Mothers' Association and Zeliangrong Union, Imphal Zone, Dipu Gangmei said that Golmei Gaiphushillu Kabui has become the first woman from the Zeliangrong community to be appointed as a judge of the High Court of Manipur and thanked the Supreme Court of India, Prime Minister and chief minister for elevating a tribal woman to such a respectable position.
Elated over the appointment of Golmei Gaiphushillu Kabui as a judge of the High Court of Manipur, Dipu Gangmei expressed hope that presence of a tribal woman in the high court would help in delivering justice to every section of the society.
He also called upon all law abiding citizens of the state to work collectively for restoring peace and making a better Manipur.
According to Dipu Gangmei, majority community in a state having democratic government should take more responsibility for holding talks to resolve the unrest and find out ways to live together with minority communities.
The state had witnessed communal violence in the past and all of them were resolved through dialogues, he pointed out, while adding that the present violence could also be solved through dialogue.
