Sit-ins protest firing attacks

Imphal, April 21 2024: Members of Youth Welfare Organisation and Nupi Yaipha Chaokhat Thourang Lup staged a sit-in protest in front of Imo filling Petrol pump at Singjamei Thokchom Leikai on Sunday, condemning the attack at the residence of Imagi Meira convenor Thokchom Sujata on Saturday by unknown armed persons.

Speaking on the sidelines of the sit-in, Lup president Ayekpam Ranita denounced the dastardly act.

She continued that Sujata, who is also the former secretary of the Lup, has been taking a key role in forging unity among the masses for the betterment of the state and the future generation and as such urged all concerned not to repeat such acts in the future.

Lalambung Local Nupi Committee also condemned an incident where unidentified miscreants fired two rounds at Lalambung Takhellambam Leikai community hall around 10 pm on Saturday.

Speaking to media persons on Sunday, Committee advisor Rk Bina informed that womenfolk have been keeping vigil at night for safeguard of youngsters who have been at the forefront in the ongoing conflict.

While decrying the random firing, she demanded clarification from all concerned for such act.

Stating that mothers too have been shouldering the responsibility to protect the people, she also called for ceasing infighting amidst such critical times.
