Public holiday declared

After the Election Commission ordered repolling in 11 polling stations on April 22, the day has been declared a public holiday by the State Government.
The public holiday is for public offices, educational institutions, autonomous bodies etc and a paid holiday for commercial/private undertakings located within the jurisdiction of the 11 polling stations of the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, said a Government order issued today.
All financial institutions including banks and LIC offices within the 11 polling stations will remain closed on the day of the repoll.
Government employees, bank employees, Public Sector Undertaking employees, commercial undertakings etc who are residents of the places under the 11 polling stations but serving outside will be allowed to avail Special Casual Leave/paid leave on April 22, said the order.
Notably, the repoll was ordered after rampant malpractices such as booth capturing, proxy voting and destruction of EVMs were reported from many polling stations during the Lok Sabha polls on April 19 .
The 11 polling stations where re-polling has been ordered are 3/11 Moirangkampu Sajeb Upper Primary School (Khurai AC), 3/21 S Ibobi Primary School (East Wing), Khurai Thongam Leikai (Khurai AC), 5/31 Khongman Zone (V) A, National Children's School (Thongju AC), Uripok AC's 10/1 Iroisemba Upper Primary School (Eastern Wing), 10/6 Iroisemba Upper Primary School (Western Wing) and 10/7 Iroisemba Upper Primary School (Middle Wing), Kshetrigao AC's 4/43 Bamon Kampu Upper Primary School, 4/44 Pioneer Academy, Bamon Kampu, 4/45 Irilbung High School (North Wing), 4/46 Irilbung High School (South Wing) and 18/22 Khaidem Makha (Konthoujam AC) .
