ESU clinch 14th State Junior Boys' Basketball Championship title

Imphal, April 21 2024:
ESU, Wangkhei were crowned State Junior Boys Basketball champions after beating LMYVA, Lalambung 84-77 in a keenly contested final match this evening at Brahmapur Nahabam Basketball Court.
Krishnacharya (29 pts), Newton (25 pts) and Rishikanta (26 pts) netted double digit scores for the winning side as LMYVA lost despite diligent efforts from Rahul (20 pts) Lanchenba (20 pts), Owen (17 pts) and Zenith (16 pts) today.

ESU led the first quarter 19-14 before LMYVA enjoyed a 17-16 lead in the second period.
ESU shifted gears in the third period to amass 30 points against LMYVA's 21 to take a 65-52 lead.
Owen put in a remarkable effort in the final quarter to help LMYVA add 25 points against ESU's 19 but his effort went in vain as ESU emerged on top with a 7-point lead at the end with Newton leading the charge.
Kenedy also netted four points for the winners today while Suraj scored four points for LMYVA.
The league cum knock-out tournament organised by the Manipur Basketball Association featured 10 teams clubbed into two groups.
