Imphal, April 21 2024:
While equating the ongoing ethnic conflict orchestrated by the Kuki narco-terrorists to the infamous 'Seven Years Devastation', Thawai Mirel co-convenor P Sanahanbi called upon all CSOs of Manipur to collectively work for the wellbeing of the state and its people.
Addressing the media at Manipur Press Club on Sunday, the co-convener lamented that failure by authorities concerned to resolve the nearly year-old strife in the state has compounded hardships and suffering of the people.
While mentioning that Thawai Mirel has been extending all possible assistance to people affected by the conflict as well as village volunteers defending the peripheral villages, she also expressed strong resentment that untoward incidents continue to occur periodically even the state has been facing serious challenge due to the ethnic conflict.
Stressing that those in possession of weapons should be wary about who actually are the adversaries rather than pointing the gun against one another, Sanahanbi cautioned that using arms against the civilian population is akin to aiding the divisive forces in creating chaos in the state and ultimately ceding to their objective for division of Manipur.
As such, all the CSOs need to look beyond the immediate intentions and fight together to save the state, she said.
