Authorities urged to reopen NSCB residential school

Students and their parents urged authorities concerned to commence the new academic session of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose (NSCB) Awasiya Vidyalaya, Laingoubi under Kumbi assembly constituency, which remained closed since last year subsequent to outbreak of the conflict.
Addressing the media at the residence of one Thongam Tomba at Wangoo Sandangkhong flanked by students and their parents on Sunday, one class X girl student of the residential school, lamented that last year she attended class for only two months only due to the ethnic violence and no alternative arrangements made for continuation of their education.
She then appealed to authorities concerned to reopen the school so that they can resume their studies.
On the other hand, a guardian namely T Pradip stated that despite launch of theresidential school seen as a blessing for poor families as it provided quality education for the children, with the state engulfed in crisis their children were deprived of basic education for almost a year now.
Claiming that they had approached the ZEO concerned and Bishnupur deputy commissioner regarding the issue with the latter assuring commencement of the new session within short notice, he decried that till now there is no sign of any activity, consequently causing frustration among the parents as well as the students.
Pradip continued that they had even tried to obtain transfer certificates to save academic career of their wards which the school authorities declined.
Further stating that they have heard about temporary relocation of the NSCB Awasiya Vidyalaya to Kumbi citing prevailing unrest situation, he cautioned that if the new session of the school does not start by April 28 then they will launch intense agitation with support of student organisations.
