5th Sangai Trophy Veteran Football C'ship : NKVFC, UVSA ease to second group stage victories; confirm quarterfinal slots

Imphal, April 21 2024: NKVFC, Utlou and UVSA, Lilong Chajing confirmed their place in the quarterfinals in the 5th Sangai Trophy Veteran Football Championship being underway at CYLC ground, Pishum with second straight Group C victories.

NKVFC defeated MVFC, Chandel 3-1 in the 13th match of the tournament this afternoon for the second win courtesy of goals from M Bishorjit (7'), Ch Ojit (32') and M Kirankumar (52') .

MVFC scored the consolation goal one minute into the added time (60+1') through Andy Monsang.

In another Group C match, UVSA trounced TRVSA, Malom 7-0 after a slow start to the game for the second straight win.

Ng Jenendra scored in the 34th minute to give TRVSA a slender 1-0 first half lead before S Bhuda (51'), S Premjit (58'), S Chiranjit (62') and Kh Romen (62') scored back to back goals to make it 5-0 .

Chiranjit bounced back to score his second in the 65th minute before T Viking hit the final nail at the stroke of the 70th minute mark.

Earlier in the Group B match staged this morning, MLVFA, Mayai Lambi posted their first win in two matches by beating TBSFA, Taobungkhok 5-1 .

TBSFA led the first half 1-0 thanks to a 29th minute strike from N Deskumar but Th Noren pulled level in the 40th minute for MLVFA before Y Priyo overturned the lead two minutes later.

Th Krishna further extended the lead for the Mayai Lambi side in the 63rd minute before H Nepolean made it 4-1 two minutes later to pile further misery upon the Taobungkhok team.

To much delight for MLVFC, Priyo added his second three minutes into the stoppage time (70+3') .
