Preparations underway for second phase LS polls

Imphal, April 21 2024:
Noney district election officer (DEO)/deputy commissioner Sharath Chandra Arroju has notified that the dispersal of polling and security personnel assigned duty for the second phase of the 18th Lok Sabha Election, 2024 in respect of Noney district will take place on April 23 for P-3, April 24 for P-2 and on April 25 for P-1 from 9.30 am onwards.
In a notification, the Noney DEO informed that polling and security personnel deputed for Nungba assembly constituency under Noney district will be despatched from 5th MR Ground, Khongjaron, Tamenglong district.
The notification further directed all polling personnel including on reserve, security personnel and all concerned to assemble at the said dispersal centre by 9 am on allotted dates without fail.
In Tengnoupal, the District Level Security Coordination Committee was held on Sunday under the chairmanship of the district election officer (DEO) and deputy commissioner (DC) Krishna Kumar, in anticipation of forthcoming elections.
The meeting, held in the presence of SP Tengnoupal, SDOs, zonal officers, and representatives from Assam Rifles and Central Paramilitary Forces, addressed critical issues pertaining to the security and integrity of the electoral process.
During the meeting, extensive discussions were conducted on various matters crucial to ensuring the safety of polling officers and upholding the sanctity of the electoral process.
The committee meticulously deliberated on strategies to enhance security measures and prevent any untoward incidents that could disrupt the smooth conduct of elections.
Key considerations included the deployment of security personnel at polling stations, coordination among law enforcement agencies, and the implementation of stringent protocols to safeguard polling booths and ballot boxes.
Emphasis was also placed on the importance of maintaining a robust security framework to instil confidence among voters and facilitate a transparent and fair electoral process.
