Imphal, October 09 2023:
Manipur International Youth Centre (MIYC) has demanded the reason for not recovering the bodies of two students, who were executed in cold blood by Kuki militants, even after the arrest of four suspects, and demanded early recovery of the bodies for giving a closure to the two families.
In a statement MIYC expressed suspicion if the arrest made in connection with the killing of the two students is part of the plot to suppress the public protest that erupted after the photos of the two students lying death went viral in social media.
On the other hand, both Centre and state government had clearly stated about hands of militants groups of Kuki community colluding with their counterparts in Bangladesh and Myanmar to create unrest and ethnic hatred.
Despite this findings, the Central government is still engaging in SoO talks with the Kuki militants, the statement said while questioning the reason for continuing the SoO talks.
Meanwhile, union defence minister had assured assistance from Indian Air Force in destroying the illegal poppy plants.
However, there seems to be no proposal from the state government in this regard till date, it stated while urging the state government to expedite the process.
Kongpal Kongkham Leikai Awang Meira Lup also demanded early justice for the two, students by awarding befitting punishment to the culprits.
A statement of the Lup informed that the members also held a tribute service for those killed in the crisis.
It also condoled the demise of Meira Paibi leader Longjam Memchoubi.
Lastly, the Lup has appealed to the people of the state to skip Ningol Chakkouba this year as a mark of respect to the fallen ones.
