Cultural Activist Ningthouja Lancha highlighted the importance of forming a strong and unified body and making collective efforts to safeguard the unity and integrity of Manipur rather than working individually.
Ningthouja Lancha made the above statement while speaking at the People's Convention on Meitei-Kuki conflict held today at Ibudhou Thangjing Laikon, Moirang.
He also stressed on the need of meticulously analyzing the well-planned attacks by Kukis upon the Meiteis.
Citing the incidents where they have seized the places of historical and cultural importance, changing of names of indigenous names of places and so on, Ningthouja Lancha maintained that their motive is to destroy the history and cultural heritage of the Meiteis.

Raising concerns on their military like execution of attacks, he stated that 'such activities and the liberal attitude of the security forces towards their atrocities clearly indicate that they have a close tie-up with these forces'.
In view of the extensive damage incurred by the Meitei community in this communal conflict, who have been made a refugee in their own native land, he demanded that strict actions should be taken up against the perpetrators involved in the arson, killings etc and befitting punishments should be awarded to them.
He also opined that taking up resettlement measures for the thousands of displaced Meiteis and providing them adequate compensation will eventually lead in bringing back peace and harmony in strife-torn Manipur.
Ningthouja Lancha also asserted that poppy cultivation should not be legalised in Manipur at any cost through any form of measures.
Speaking at the occasion, Sanaleibak local daily Editor, Hemanta Kumar Ningomba also voiced the call for cohesive efforts to protect the integrity of Manipur and fight against the aggressors who are into disintegrating Manipur.
