State returning to normalcy, says minister Awangbow

Water resources minister Awangbow Newmai, who has been re-elected president of Naga People's Front (NPF) Manipur unit and took oath on Monday, appealed to all the communities of Manipur to work at their best level to bring back peace and normalcy in the state.
Awangbow Newmai along with office bearers of divisional units, area units and frontal wing of NPF Manipur unit were elected for the tenure 2024-2028 and took oath at Sangai hall of Hotel Imphal on Monday.
Minister Awangbow Newmai told media persons at the sideline of the oath taking ceremony that the state government has been putting enormous effort to contain the violence, which was erupted on May 3, and the government efforts seem to be paid off as there is sign of returning normalcy at least to some extent.
Every section of people wants peace but how to reach an understanding to bring back peace is not easy.
Both the government and ruling parties have been working toward returning peace and the Centre too is advocating for peace, he said and appealed to the public to work collectively to bring peace in the state.
According to Awangbow Newmai, new office bearers for the third tenure of NPF Manipur unit have been elected with strict adherence to party's constitution.
As per party's constitution, office bearers for the next tenure are elected three months prior to expiry of term and accordingly elected 800 functionaries in August this year.
All these 800 functionaries will take oath before party's foundation day celebration, he said and thanked party members for re-electing him as party president for second tenure in succession.
The oath taking ceremony was also attended by transport minister Khashim Vashum and party leaders.
