Combing ops to go on till recovery of all snatched arms: Kuldiep Singh

Reminding the appeal made by the chief minister some 15 days back for surrendering the snatched arms, Manipur security advisor Kuldiep Singh stated that combing operations which began from Monday will continue till all the snatched arms are recovered.
Talking to media persons in this regard at CM's Bungalow in Babupara here on Monday, security advisor Kuldiep Singh informed that availability of sophisticated arms and ammunition in the hands of the public is not a good sign and it will have serious consequences in future if the arms happen to reach those who are against the law of the land.
Informing that combing operations have been conducted in different parts of the state to recover the snatched arms, Kuldiep Singh said that a combing operation was conducted early Monday morning in Sinam village under Imphal East district during which 20 live rounds (15.56mm) of AK 47 Assault Rifle, one 303 Rifle, two SMC Carbines, one empty magazine of LMG, five bullet proof jackets, five Khaki shirts and one Khaki pant were recovered.
The security force planned to conduct combing operation early in the morning in Zalenkot village of Churachandpur district but had to delay for over 3 hours due to thick fog.
During the operation, one 51mm mortar launcher, one SMC Carbine, four country made pistols, Pimpi and improvised powder were recovered.
The security force also recovered local made bomb launchers during the combing operation conducted in Khousabung village, he said.
The security advisor also informed that another combing operation was conducted at Yairipok Gwarok Hills at around noon after receiving specific information that some explosives were being hidden in the area.
During the search operation, the security forces recovered one SLR bearing Regn No ED-6370 along with 8 magazines and 36 high explosive hand grenades with detonators.
The seized items have been handed over to Yairipok police station for taking up further legal action.
The joint security force also conducted a medical camp at Zalenkot village in Churachandpur where villagers were provided with free medicines and other essential items, Kuldiep Singh said and added that on October 7, the security force apprehended a person from near Myanmar border along with cash amounting Rs 20 lakh from his possession.
It is suspended that the apprehended person was planning to purchase either contraband drugs or arms from Myanmar.
The seized cash has been handed over to Singhat police station.
He also informed that the current crisis has left 175 people killed and 1439 injured.
Around 5669 arms have been looted from government arsenal among which 1344 have been recovered so far.
