Skill training programme held in relief camps

Daylong skill training programmes for making 'Bori', liquid dishwash, brass/copper ware cleaner, phenyl was organised by District Skill Committee, Kakching in collaboration with KVK, Thoubal and MSRLM for internally displaced people (IDP) staying in relief camps of Indoor Stadium, Kakching; Wabagai Higher Secondary School and Keirak Sanatombi High School.
The training programmes were conducted under the project 'Leibaklei' which aims to impart skills to inmates of various relief camps located across the district.
Various skill trainings which have been organised under the project were conducted as per the aspirations of inmates.
The training programmes was coordinated by MGNF Kakching Irom Abesana Devi.
Handholding support and training for 'Bori' making was provided by KVK, Thoubal subject matter specialist (Home Science) RK Lembisana for 12 women inmates of Keirak Sanatombi High School at KVK, Thoubal.
It can be mentioned that the main objective of KVK, Thoubal is to improve the livelihood of small and marginal farmers of Thoubal and Kakching district.
It has been working for the betterment of the farming community with the interventions of the latest agricultural and allied technologies to farmers (both men and women), rural youths/dropouts and extension personnel of the district.
Considering the distressful situation of displaced people due to the present conflict and the need for imparting skill trainings, KVK, Thoubal has been conducting various skilling programmes in Kakching and Thoubal district for IDPs accommodated in relief camps across the district.
Meanwhile, training programmes for making liquid dishwash, brass/copper ware cleaner and phenyl making for 20 three inmates of Wabagai Higher Secondary School relief camp and 40 inmates of Indoor Stadium, Kakching relief camp.
MSRLM district coordinator (nonfarm) Salman Sheikh, block coordinators-skills Naorem Sadananda Singh & Naorem Dinesh Singh led the training programmes.
Trainees M Sonia Devi of Chaokhat Khongthang Village level Federation (VLF) and Nupi Sintha VLF member Sohya Devi encouraged the inmates to further manufacture the products so that they could sustain their livelihood.
