Jiribam, October 09 2023:
With the lone Jiribam district hospital becoming ownerless and no one is there to look after, Jiri Development Organisation (JDO) asked all the employees in the health sector including doctors to perform duty at their respective place of posting and warned that anyone found derelecting duty will have to face the music.
JDO president N Sadananda said during a press conference on Sunday that a joint team of JDO and United Jiri Youth League leaders inspected Jiribam district hospital and found condition of the hospital unchanged with acute shortage of medical staff including doctors.
He said that the district hospital is still unable to perform even minor operation and patients needing the same continue to be referred to referral hospitals in neighbouring Assam.
Except for some patients at OPD, the hospital is unable to give treatment to patients, he said, adding that the hospital has no doctor even for important wards like orthopaedic, paediatric and gynaecology.
