Imphal, October 09 2023:
Enquiring as to why the government is remaining silent when the 10 Kuki MLAs have violated the Constitution, Manipur Democratic Alliance (MDA) has said that it will file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against the 10 MLAs in the High Court of Manipur.
Addressing media persons in this regard at its Babupara office, here, on Monday, MDA chairman Bijoy Koi-jam stated that the 10 Kuki MLAs who are demanding a separate administration for the Kuki-Zo people had at the time of election sworn before SDO that they would serve for the welfare of Manipur and after being elected they also took oath to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur.
Knowing all these, it is very unfortunate for the state government and the state legislative assembly to remain silent when these MLAs are openly violating the constitution.
Therefore, MDA will file a PIL against the 10 Kuki MLAs in the Manipur High Court.
He further stated that the demand of the 10 Kuki MLAs for a separate administration is impossible and will never be given away at any cost.
Going in hand with the armed Kuki militants and attacking the Meiteis and trying to disintegrate Manipur will be faced with an iron hand by MDA.
Bijoy Koijam further said that since the culprits involved in the killing of the two students have been identified, the government should take up steps to recover and hand over the bodies of the two students to their respective family members.
As the mobile phone used by the one of the students has been recovered, it will not be a tough job for the police to catch the real culprits involved in the brutal murder.
The MDA chairman went on to say that though peace is visible in some areas, there are many areas where frequent firing attacks are taking place.
It is right under the nose of the security forces that the armed Kuki militants are attacking the Meitei villages located in the foothills.
The state and the central governments should ensure tight security arrangements in these areas, he demanded.
He also charged the previous governments and the top officials with their dereliction in their duties which has led to the present crisis.
MDA convenor M Tombi, who is also the president of Shiv Sena Manipur state unit, said that the claim of the illegal immigrants that they are indigenous people of Manipur is unacceptable.
The state government should take up actions against these illegal immigrants who are illegally entering Manipur and trying to destroy the integrity of the state.
Rashtriya Lok Janashakti party state unit president Rag keisham was also present during the press meet.
