One more arrested in connection with May 4 incident : PCR

The Police Control Room (PCR), Manipur Police has said one more accused in connection with May 4 incident was arrested today.
In a press note issued today, PCR said that altogether 7 accused persons including one juvenile have been arrested so far in connection with the May 4 incident of parading two women naked in public in Kangpokpi district.
The State police is making an all-out effort to arrest the remaining culprits by conducting raids at many suspected hide-outs, it added.
PCR also stated that State police and Central forces conducted search operations in the vulnerable and fringe areas of Torbung, Kangvai and Bangla areas of Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts during the last 24 hours.
It further said that the Cyber Crime Police Station (CCPS), Manipur has registered a case in connection with the viral video of a woman being assaulted and killed by a mob including armed men (which happened in Myanmar), which has been falsely depicted as a case of Manipur.
Attempts are made to identify and arrest the accused persons for spreading false news with intent to disturb public tranquillity, incite riot, and create serious breach of law and order in the State, it said.
A police team also recovered 01 (one) ambulance carrying consignment of medical supplies to Churachandpur from unknown miscreants who stopped the ambulance at Sangaiprou Mamang Leikai, Imphal West, it said.
The medical consignment has been safely handed over to the Medical Directorate, Lamphel, it added.
516 persons were detained in connection with curfew violations in different districts of the State during the same period, PCR said.
Movement of 666 (six hundred sixty-six) vehicles on NH-37 and 184 (one hundred eighty-four) vehicles on NH-2 with essential items were ensured with strict security measures, it said.
The PCR went on to appeal to the general public not to believe in rumours.
Any circulation of unfounded videos etc may be confirmed from the rumour free number 9233522822 of Central Control room, it said.
It also appealed to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
