Imphal, July 24 2023:
Vice president of BJP State unit Ch Chidananda has outrightly rejected the bid to link the May 4 incident with RSS and BJP.
Speaking to the media at State BJP head-office at Nityaipat Chuthek today, the BJP State unit vice president said the party condemns any crime, violence and atrocity and the effort to link the gruesome incident of May 4 with the party or the RSS is very saddening and wrong.
Many social media posts alleging involvement of BJP and RSS have been found circulated following the emergence of the viral video, he said while adding that it was very unfortunate and an attempt to tarnish the image of the political party and RSS.
The party considers the act as a petty political play, he said.
It has been found that photos of him and his son (13) which were taken on October 16 last during an RSS event (Path Sanchalan programme) are attached with the posts related to the May 4 incident and circulated in various Indian States, he said.
A complaint has been filed in connection with the posts, he said while adding that cases will be filed in other States concerned.
He further clarified that he and his family have no role in the incident nor the RSS or BJP while adding that the party will also take up appropriate legal actions against the persons or party behind the highly sensitive social media posts.
Since the case may affect his son, he will also approach and lodge a com- plaint before the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, New Delhi, he added.
Reiterating that he is against any kind of violence or crime against women and children, he also appealed to all sections to unite together and work towards restoration of peace and harmony in the State.
