718 Myanmar people have intruded into Chandel: Report

Raising eyebrows and further enhancing the popular suspicion about involvement of infiltrators from Myanmar in the present crisis, as many as 718 Myanmar Nationals have been detected crossing the border into Chandel district.
Report has been received from the Headquarters 28 Sector Assam Rifles that 718 fresh refugees have crossed Indo-Myanmar border and entered in the general area of New Lajang of Chandel district as on July 23 due to the ongoing clashes at Khampat (Opposite Border Pillar 58), said the Home Department in a statement issued by Dr Vineet Joshi, Chief Secretary today.
The 718 Myanmar Nationals include 209 male, 208 female and 301 children.
On July 22, 13 Myanmar Nationals including two males, three females and eight children were detected at Lajang.
On July 23, as many as 705 Myanmar Nationals were detected at different villages.
38 were detected at Bonse, 89 were detected at New Samtal, 230 were detected at New Lajang, 143 were detected at Yangnomphai, 175 were detected at Yangnomphai Saw Mill and 30 were detected at Aivomjang.
Following the report, the State Government has sought detailed report from the Assam Rifles authority to clarify on the facts and compelling circumstances/reasons, as to why and how these 718 Myanmar Nationals were allowed to enter into India in Chandel district without proper travel documents; along with strict advice to push back the 718 illegal Myanmar Nationals immediately.
The Government has also advised the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Chandel district to oversee repatriation and also keep biometrics and photographs of all the Myanmar Nationals.
