Imphal, January 11 2024:
Students of Biramangol College, Sawombung, gathered in large numbers on Thursday to protest the transfer of Principal Dr A Surenjit Singh.
The students strongly condemned the transfer of the Principal during this difficult time and demanded revocation of the transfer order at the earliest.
They also asserted that the Principal has been working tirelessly for the past months to provide education to the students who have been suffering due to the present conflict.
The students also displaced placards with the writings such as, "Revoke transfer order", "We condemn transfer of Principal without proper reason", "Reinstate Dr A Surenjit as Principal", etc.

Meanwhile, Biramangol College Students' Union and Biramangol College Alumni Association have also urged the State Government to revoke the transfer order of Dr A Surenjit Singh.
In a statement, BMC Students' Union informed that in opposition to the transfer order issued on December 28, 2023, the Union had locked the administrative block of the college as well as the Principal's office.
Accusing the Government of remaining mum on the matter despite their protests, the Union cautioned that if the transfer order is not rescinded at the earliest, BMC Students' Union in collaboration with the college students will launch fresh agitations.
"Dr A Surenjit should also be reinstated at Biramangol College at the earliest", it added.
In a separate press release, the Biramangol College Alumni Association termed the transfer order as "unreasonable" and called for its immediate revocation.
