Imphal, January 11 2024:
Congress has launched pamphlets and a website for 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' today.
Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra National Media Coordinator Mathew Antony, CLP leader Okram Ibobi, MPCC president K Meghachandra and CWC member Gaikhangam launched the pamphlets and the website at Congress Bhavan, Imphal.
The Congress party urged people to support and join the Yatra by giving misscall to Mobile No 9891802024 .
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will lead the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra which will be launched from Manipur on January 14 .
Even as Congress has been given the permit to use Imphal's Hapta Kangjeibung as the venue for the launch with limited participants, the actual launch venue hasn't been decided.
While Hapta Kangjeibung was the first choice for Congress, the Yatra may be kicked off from a private ground near Khongjom War Memorial Complex in Thoubal district.
The final decision on the venue is likely to be taken tomorrow, said sources.
At Congress Bhavan today, National Media Coordinator Mathew Antony said the Yatra will raise voice against injustice to people and call for unity.
Unemployment rate now is lowest in 45 years, and crimes against women and minorities have spiked during the BJP Government, Mathew said.
Mathew further asserted that the prices of commodities have skyrocketed and there have been mismanagement in many sectors including healthcare.
While the rich are becoming richer, the poor are becoming poorer, Mathew added.
Accusing the BJP of having a communal outlook, Mathew said the values of the Constitution and democracy have been corroded.
While the Government has claimed that it has brought development to the North East, the region is still lagging behind in many sectors.
The North East has no good electricity, drinking water and proper connectivity, said Mathew.
The Congress leader claimed that during the BJP Government, the region has lost land to neighbouring foreign countries.
"All of these are injustice to the people.
People need to raise their voice against such injustice and stand against the system," Mathew said, adding Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra aims at giving voice to the people.
The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will cover 15 States from Manipur to Mumbai, Mathew said, urging people and the media to support the Yatra.
