Jiribam bags 'Cleanest Town' award for fourth time

Jiribam, January 11 2024:
Jiribam has become the first district of the state to receive the cleanest town award for the fourth time in a row, in the category of north eastern zone towns having population under 15,000 .
President Droupadi Murmu presented the Swachh Survekshan 2023 Awards during a ceremony held at Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre, Pragati Maiden, New Delhi organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on Thursday.
During the ceremony, Jiribam district bagged the cleanest town award among the North East zone towns.
It may be mentioned that Jiribam district achieved the feat consecutively since 2020.MAHUD commissioner M Joy Singh, director Sharath Aaraju, assistant director M Sharda Devi, and Jiribam Municipal Council executive officer M Surjit Singh attended the ceremony and received the award jointly.
Jiribam district located in the westernmost part of Manipur, bordering Cachar district of Assam, is 220 kilometres from Imphal, the state's capital.
Jiribam district was created in 2016 by carving out from Imphal East district.
