Karkinos organises cancer screening camp

In connection with the observance of 'Cervical Cancer Awareness Month', Karkinos Manipur Cancer Institute and Research Centre organised daylong community awareness and screening camp (Early Cancer Detection Programme) at Malom Keithel in Imphal West district.
The event had the participation of over 150 individuals, both men and women, from Malom area.
The primary objective of the programme was to spread awareness about cancer care, importance of regular health check-ups, early detection of cancer, and prevention strategies among the community.
Dr Thingujam James, Consultant Gynae-Oncologist, played a pivotal role in organising the event, raising awareness about cervical cancer.
He underscored the significance of cancer screening and highlighted the role of HPV vaccination in the fight against cancer.
The medical team from Karkinos Healthcare Manipur, led by Dr K Rajo, HOD, department of anaesthesiology, included highly experienced professionals such as Dr Thingujam James, Dr Nandan Choudhary, and operation manager W Imo.
The team also had Resident Medical Officers (RMOs), nurses, and dieticians, contributing to the success of the programme.
The comprehensive programme encompassed general health check-ups, oral examinations, clinical breast examinations, cervical screenings, and risk assessments, complemented by an informative awareness session.
A total of over 100 individuals underwent screenings and health check-ups during the programme while 25 children received HPV vaccination as preventive measures.
As a part of the programme, around 150 people were enrolled for ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) which facilitate the card holders to access healthcare services and further promote well-being within the community.
