Imphal, January 11 2024:
The Manipur QNet Fraud Victims' Welfare Association has appealed to the State Government to take appropriate action against certain individuals who have defrauded people out of huge sums of money through QNet network marketing.
Speaking to the media at a press conference at Manipur Press Club today, Maibam Michael, secretary, Manipur QNet Fraud Victims' Welfare Association shared that there are more than 2000 victims of "QNet scam" in Manipur.
On October 26, 2023, the Association held a similar press conference highlighting the bad practices of QNet company and calling for appropriate action against those involved but the State Government has not resolved the issue till date, Maibam Michael said.
Highlighting the efforts undertaken by the Association to bring the fraudsters to justice, he pointed out that written applications were submitted to State authorities, complaints filed with the Cyber Crime Department and an investigation was launched by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) .
Maintaining that QNet has been banned in countries across the globe, he called it unfortunate that the dubious company still operates in India.
He also pointed out that there are cases of the Enforcement Department arresting QNet associates in many States.
In Manipur, they have duped thousands of people out of their hard-earned money, including residents of relief camps, he claimed.
Despite carrying out such illegitimate activities, neither the State Government nor right-thinking CSOs have taken up any action against the individuals who introduced QNet into the State, said the secretary.
Calling for stringent action against the main executives of the company in Manipur, Maibam Michael urged the State Government and concerned State organisations to help the victims recoup their losses.
