Imphal, January 11 2024:
Manipur State Council/Com-munist Party of India (MSC/CPI) and Global Manipur Federation (GMF) have strongly condemned the merciless killing of three men from among four, including a father-son duo, who went missing after they ventured to collect firewood from a forest in Haotak area.
From the viral videos and images that are currently being circulated on social media, the three victims namely Romen, Ibomcha and Anand were not in combat fatigues and appeared to be executed at point-blank range by armed Kuki militants.
This blatant disregard for human life displayed during the current crisis is unacceptable and it is equally disheartening to witness such actions that undermine the principles of fairness, compassion, and basic human decency.
This could be considered as war crime under the International Court of Justice as well, the two organisations said.
They further questioned how the chief minister is claiming to have restored normalcy in the state when innocent firewood collectors were mercilessly killed.
There is no sign of governance in the state.
Valley people are becoming resentful day by day as the government has failed to do its job, they denounced, while enquiring why security advisor is remaining silent despite the disturbing situation gripping the state.
Urging both the state and central governments to initiate steps that will bring an end to the crisis raging for the last eight months, they maintained that safety and well-being of all communities should be the top priority.
