State level training programme on beekeeping concludes

The 7-Days State Level Training Programme on Beekeeping jointly organised by Manipur Beekeeping and Honey Mission (MBHM) and Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) concluded today at the Training Hall of Directorate of Horticulture & Soil Conservation in Sanjenthong, Imphal.
The training programme was conducted under the sponsorship of National Bee Board, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.
The closing ceremony was attended by Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Additional Director, K Debadutta Sharma; MIDH, Mission Director, Md Zakir Hussain Khan and Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Director, Honey Chara as presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, K Debadutta Sharma said that beekeeping is an increasingly popular and profitable venture in India as the demand for honey and other bee-related products continue to rise.
Highlighting that beekeeping is not only important to agriculture but also provides employment opportunities to youth, he urged all to promote beekeeping in the larger interest of the society.
Md Zakir Hussain appealed to all the trainees to learn and apply the knowledge imparted by experts during the programme.
Later, certificates were distributed to 25 farmers who participated in the training programme.
