Awareness programme on Way Forward campaign held

A public awareness programme on the ongoing 'Way Forward' campaign of All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) was held today at Wangjing Khunou under Kakching district today.
The awareness programme was jointly organised by Young Star Social Club (YSSC) Wangjing Khunou and Wangjing Khunou Meira Paibi.
N Ngaobi, Nongpok Ningthou Hanjaba; H Premabati, president Wangjing Khunou Apunba Meira Paibi; Imachoubi, president Kakching District Meira Paibi; H Amita, ward member; Th Chaoba, president Kakching District United Clubs Organisation (KADUCO) and advisors YSSC, Sh Sitaljit and N Iboton attended as the presidium members of the programme.
It is worth noting that AMUCO's Way Forward campaign has been initiated to raise awareness among the public to strive collectively to bring a lasting solution for restoration of peace and normalcy in crisis stricken Manipur and to discuss the memorandum submitted by AMUCO to the Indian Government in connection with the prevailing unrest in the State.
The eminent speakers of the programme include social activist, Dr Dhanabir Laishram; K Helen, vice-president AMUCO; K Santosh, secretary organisation AMUCO; Ch Usharani, advisor All Manipur Womens' Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) and Laishram Krishnachandra, secretary publicity, AMUCO.
Speaking at the occasion, Ch Usharani reiterated the continued efforts taken up by AMUCO to safeguard the integrity and unity of Manipur.
In connection with the communal violence which erupted on May 3 last year, she maintained that AMUCO has been playing a vital role by conducting various programmes to sensitize the masses against the demand of a separate administration and the atrocities meted out to the indigenous people of the State posing a big threat to the integrity of Manipur and peaceful co-existence.
With regards to the ongoing Way Forward campaign, she appealed to all to make collective efforts for restoration of peace and normalcy in Manipur prioritising on safeguarding the State's integrity.
On the other hand, K Helen spoke at length on the history of Manipur and the prevailing conflict situation in the State.
Dr Dhanabir Laishram underscored the importance of the agenda of the campaign focusing on paving ways for a resolution of the ongoing conflict in Manipur.
Expressing concern on the chaotic condition in the State, he highlighted the need of making sincere efforts to foster unity and a peaceful co-existence among the different communities of the State by fighting strongly against all forms of external aggressors.
