AR distributes sewing machines, sports items

Imphal, January 11 2024:
Assam Rifles on Thursday distributed 30 sewing machines to the women of Chaka -ma village in Kamjong district as part of Project Chakama - Women Empowerment Initiative under Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the initiative was part of various women empowerment projects being carried out by Assam Rifles in Manipur to uplift living standards of women by providing ways and means to earn livelihood.
A Tangkhul folk dance was performed during the event to celebrate the warm association between the village authorities and the Assam Rifles.
In Singhat sub-division, Churachandpur district, Assam Rifles held a distribution of sports items under Op Sadbhavana Project on Thursday to promote sports culture in the border villages while motivating and aiding the youth and children with basic requirement of sports items.
The subject initiative was taken after assessing the requirement for youth and students in border areas and under the belief that it would not only instil confidence among the students but also motivate them to pursue career in sports.
The programme also aims to achieve the goal of promoting Fit India, where the youth are encouraged to be actively involved in sports activities.
A total of 171 young and energetic youth benefitted from this project.
The youth and village authorities acknowledged efforts of Assam Rifles, 'The True Friends of the North East people', the PRO added.
