National Voters' Day observed : First time voters urged to vote

The 14th National Voters' Day was observed today under the theme 'Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure' at the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur at Lamphelpat.
The programme was organized by the Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur.
Chief Secretary Dr Vineet Joshi, Additional Chief Secretary MH Khan and Chief Electoral Officer Manipur PK Jha attended the function as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vineet Joshi encouraged the new voters to cast their vote in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
He appealed to the young new voters to be alert, know the value of voting, come out and participate in the elections.

Dr Vineet Joshi also administered the oath of National Voters' Day to the gathering.
Speaking at the function, Additional Chief Secretary MH Khan said, "The Constitution has given us the right to elect our leader.
If we do not choose the correct leader, our future will be spoiled" .
He appealed to all voters to exercise their rights wisely.
PK Jha said National Voters' Day is the celebration of voters, specially first-time voters.
He said that it is the right bestowed to all citizens by the Constitution.
He appreciated the District Election Officers, Returning Officers, BLOs and other officials of Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur for successful Electoral Summary Revision 2023-24 .
He also said that a survey was conducted in partnership with Manipur Technical University regarding knowledge, aptitude and practices of election.
The message of Chief Election Commissioner of India, Rajiv Kumar was screened during the function, which was followed by presentation of EPIC cards and badges to the newly enrolled voters.
Appreciation certificates and Best Electoral Practices Awards 2024 were conferred to District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers and Returning Officers for their exemplary performances.
National Voters' Day is observed to promote and encourage the youth to participate in the voter registration, specially among new or first-time voters.
The day has been celebrated since 2011 across the country to mark the foundation of the Election Commission of India i.e, 25th January, 1950 .
