Imphal, January 25 2024:
Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) and Zomi Council Steering Committee (ZCSC) condemned the oath-taking exercise of 39 Meitei representatives of the government - 37 MLAs and two MPs at Kangla by Arambai Tenggol as a testament of the collapse of democracy and all forms of governance in Manipur, a case similar to Afghanistan, Libya, Gaza, etc., where armed militias took over the elected government.
In separate releases, KIM and ZCSC described as alarming that the government has openly accorded "state patronage" to non-state actors, namely the Arambai Tenggol, as all the Meetei elected representatives succumbed to diktats of the Meetei-centric organisation.
Such illegal acts of anarchic and totalitarian state government and its cohorts clearly proved that there is complete failure of constitutional machinery and total breakdown of law and order in the state, they denounced, while adding that the six-point demand of Arambai Tenggol to which the state government meekly surrendered, are simply unconstitutional and illegitimate, which will never be accepted.
In view of the transferring of power and authority by the state government to the Meetei group, they urged union government to expedite process for separate administration of the Kuki-Zo people.
ZCSC also submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister highlighting the plight of the Zo people -Hmar, Kuki-Zo and nine Zomi tribes.
