State police quartet enlisted for award

On the eve of the 75th Republic Day, The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced recipients of the annual gallantry/service awards of various agencies including police, fire service, home guards, and civil defence and corrective service.
Four police personnel from the state are also among the medal winners.
The list announced by the home ministry include Inspector Elangbam Bhubaneshwar, who will be the first Manipuri to receive the President's Distinguished Service Medal.
The three other Manipur police personnel named for the meritorious service medal are inspector general of police (intelligence, NAB) Kabib K, inspector Oinam Premananda Singh and sub-inspector Laishram Ramkumar Singh.
Among the gallantry award winners also include one CRPF personnel from Manipur named Heikham Priyananda while Sonada Singh Thokchom, who is deputy central intelligence officer at the ministry of home affairs, and assistant central intelligence officer Ibungoton are also among the winners of Medal for Meritorious Award.
Among winners of the President's Medal/Medal for Gallantry include two personnel of the Assam Rifles.
Of the 277 gallantry medals announced, including 275 Medal for Gallantry and two President's Medal for Gallantry, as many as 133 personnel would be honoured for their acts of valour in Jammu and Kashmir, 119 for tackling left wing extremism (LWE), and the remaining 25 personnel for actions in other regions.
