National Voters ' Day celebrated across state

Imphal, January 25 2024:
The 14th National Voters' Day was celebrated in different districts of the state including Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Senapati and Thoubal among others under the theme, "Nothing like Voting, I vote for sure", on Thursday.
The events were marked by insightful speeches, administration of the National Voters' Pledge, and distribution of Elector's Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) to the newly enrolled voters.
In Bishnupur district, District Election Officer/DC Lourembam Bikram led the na-tion-wide event held at the Mini Secretariat conference hall.
Bikram urged voters, especially first-timers, to exercise their valuable voting rights responsibly.
Six Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were honoured with awards for their outstanding contributions to maintaining a clean electoral roll.
He further said that 12 campus ambassadors have been nominated for the district to carry out SVEEP activities like voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy at colleges and schools.
Bishnupur SP K Meghachandra called for a free, fair and peaceful election and said that mass awareness and sensitisation programme for the enrolment is a must in order to ensure that no voter is left out.
The National Voters' Day was also observed at the conference Hall of Mini Secretariat, Tuibong in Churachandpur district.
DC/DEO Dharun Kumar applauded the role of BLOs in challenging situations, emphasising the importance of every citizen's role in sustaining democracy.
Appreciation certificates were presented to two BLOs and two state level awardees.
ADC Thangboi Gangte and officials from the district election department also attended the function.
The District Election Office, Senapati also celebrated the 14th National Voters' Day at multipurpose hall, opposite DC Office, Senapati.
ADC/ADEO Senapati PP Ronald addressed the gathering, emphasising the objective of educating and spreading awareness among young and newly enrolled voters.
He said that the event is being organised to increase electoral enrolment and let the public aware of the value of every vote and appealed to both old and young voters to encourage friends and families to exercise voting rights wisely while choosing leaders for tomorrow.
He congratulated DEO/DC Senapati Mamoni Doley, ERO/SDO Purul Plim Reikhenamai, and AC ERO/SDO Senapati S Lunguiba Thangal on receiving award of best DEO & EROs for their outstanding contribution in the Special Summary Revision - 2024.ADM Senapati/SDO Phaibung Sheveine also handed out awards to the best BLOs of three constituencies, recognising their outstanding contributions.
The BLOs are BS Hopeson Pao of Karong (ST) AC, B Komuhra of Mao (ST) AC and K Paul of Tadubi (ST) AC.
Thoubal district also joined in celebrating the 14th National Voters' Day with the District Election Office organising the event at the Election Counting Hall.
ADEO/ADM B Lokeshwor, AC to DC S Surchandra, ERO/SDO Lilong Julia Khuraijam, ERO/BDO Thoubal Yendrembam Sher, ERO/SDO Thoubal Mayengbam Ranjeeta and ERO/BDO Wangjing Maibam Suranjoy took part in the programme.
Appreciation certificates along with cash awards were distributed to the BLOs of different ACs of Thoubal district for their exemplary performances.
