Imphal, January 25 2024:
The Meitei Alliance has endorsed the Kangla Resolutions of January 24, signed by 37 MLAs and two MPs while stating that these resolutions encompass a range of crucial demands aimed at addressing various socio-political issues in the state.
The Alliance also called the demands as timely, lawful, and democratic.
The resolutions, presented at the joint congregations organised under the initiatives of Arambai Tenggol at the lawn of Kangla Utra inside the Kangla fort in Imphal, include updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC), abrogation of the Suspension of Operations (SoQ) agreement with Kuki militant organisations, construction of fencing along the Indo-Myanmar international borders, removing Kuki illegal immigrants from the ST list of Manipur, and replacing Assam Rifles with other central security forces, The Meitei Alliance, in a statement, said that the choice of Kangla as the venue holds significant symbolic value, signifying the resurgence of pre-colonial socio-political values associated with Kangla as the indigenous governance centre.
The joint congregation witnessed elected representatives from various political parties, Arambai Tenggol leaders, and support from multiple organisations.
This unprecedented unity highlights a collective commitment to prioritise patriotism and nationalism over individual loyalties, it noted and commended the political maturity demonstrated through the resolutions, emphasising a commitment to addressing common grievances of the indigenous people of Manipur.
The Alliance strongly believes that these demands align with broader national security objectives, it said, adding that the resolutions shall serve as a timely reminder to the government of India to adopt concrete action plans to restore peace, dispel war hysteria, heal wounded psyches, and rebuild trust in good governance.
The Meitei Alliance appreciated the Kangla congregation and affirmed to endorse resolutions.
