Loree Kaju Nungbi village set to host annual seed sowing festival / Hamlei Panat

Loree Kaju Nungbi village in Ukhrul district is all set to host a grand public feast on January 29 (Monday) in connection with the annual celebration of seed sowing festival cum Hamlei Panat to mark the auspicious occasion of New Year for the Tangkhul community.
The annual festival is celebrated to invoke the ceremonial blessing to begin the agricultural activities of the Tangkhul community.
The seed sowing festival (Luta, in local dialect) is celebrated with joy offering best hospitality services to all the visiting guests while every household prepares additional delicacies to host the visitors.
According to the convener of the festival, Dr Solei Luiram said the 3-day event will be held from January 28-30, where the Tangkhul traditional cultural items including folk dance, folk songs, tug of war and Nungbi clay pot making competitions will be held.
He said, all are welcome for the feast where the villagers will uphold the rich Tangkhul traditional culture by hosting a feast to all persons visiting the village during the celebration.
It is worth noting that Loree Kaju Nungbi village is about 35 kms away and located in the northern part of Ukhrul district.
