Imphal, January 25 2024:
The Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has issued a notice to the State Government seeking a status report on the minimum basic facilities given to the locals of Kshetri Bengoon Babumacha Khun.
The notice issued to Imphal East Deputy Commissioner, Chief Engineer of PHED, Commissioner of Power and Managing Director of MSPDCL is returnable on February 16 .
The notice was served in connection with a complaint filed to the Commission by one MV Amin Shah, a resident of Kshetri Bengoon Babumacha Khun.
The complainant claimed that the locals of Kshetri Bengoon Babumacha Khun don't get even the basic needs and minimum facilities like electricity and water.
The complainant went on to claim that the women of the said village are also not getting LPG connection provided under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) while elders above 60 years are not given the old age pension scheme although some of them have no earning members in their families.
He further said that the village doesn't get the benefit of electricity though there are electrical posts and a sub-station of MSPDCL, compelling the children to depend on candlelights for studies.
The locals of Kshetri Bengoon Babumacha Khun also don't get any benefit from the welfare schemes of the Government, the complainant added.
Chairperson of UB Saha visited the village (Kshetri Bengoon Babumacha Khun) on January 22 and interacted with the locals, following which a notice was served to the Government.
