Imphal, January 25 2024:
Governor Anusuiya Uikey and Chief Minister N Biren Singh have extended their warm greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of the 75th Republic Day of India.
In a statement, the Governor said that India is poised to become one of the leading nations of the world with its progress in science and technology backed by a young and dynamic population.
She also highlighted the need to harness the potential of the youth of the country in the right direction.
On the 75th Republic Day of India, she appealed to the people to rededicate themselves to upholding and promoting the secular, socialist and democratic values enshrined in the Constitution and work collectively to make the country great.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Biren Singh reflected on the various possibilities the State of Manipur could have achieved were it not for the hiatus on account of the law and order scenario.
Asserting that Manipur was witnessing progress across many sectors, the Chief Minister pointed out that the conflict has pulled the State and its people back by many years.
"Rebuilding physical structures and houses is one thing.
Rebuilding lives and rebuilding bonds is another.
The State Government recognizes this", the Chief Minister stated.
Maintaining that the State Government is a neutral entity that believes in the principles of equality and justice for all enshrined in the Constitution, he assured that the Government will leave no stone unturned in bringing back peace and normalcy in the State.
In his Republic Day press release, N Biren Singh also addressed the people braving the winter in relief camps and other temporary shelters stating that this Republic Day 2024 has greater significance for them.
However, he said that these adversities should not drive them or the youth of Manipur towards thoughts and actions that find no place in the scheme of the Constitution of India.
Thus, he urged people to work together as one people and believe in the power of forgiveness for one's own neighbours and conveyed his heartiest greetings on the arrival of the 75th Republic Day of India.
