NE Games: Manipur claim third place in men's football

Imphal, November 15 2022:
S Doungel netted a double to help Manipur finish third in the U-21 men's football competition of the 2nd North East Olympic Games on Tuesday.
The state squad beat Nagaland 4-3 in a tight contest to secure the third-place honour.
S Doungel opened the scoring in the 6th minute as Vhoto drew level for Nagaland in the 12th minute.
M Simte regained Manipur's lead in the 33rd minute but Nagaland clawed their way back into the game again with a 51st-minute leveller from Thulongo.
Three minutes later, N Binodkumar put Manipur back in front before S Doungel scored his second and team's fourth goal in the 62nd minute.
Nagaland found their third goal in the first minute of stoppage time through Neisede but it was too little too late.
