2nd NE Games: K Bishan, N Biseshori clinch 80 km road race gold medals; Archers rack up 19 medals

Konthoujam Bishan and Naorem Biseshori claimed a gold medal each in the men's and women's 80 km road race event in the ongoing 2nd NE Games hosted by Meghalaya Olympic Association.
Konthoujam Bishan finished first in the event with a time of 2:28:25 (two hours, 28 minutes and 25 seconds) as Tajum Dere of Arunachal Pradesh (2:29:19) and Kevin John of Meghalaya (2:30:45) secured the second and third positions.
In the women's competition, Naorem Biseshori clocked 2:57:18 to claim the gold medal while Thokchom Helen Devi sealed the bronze medal with a time of 3:04:55.The silver medal went to Arunachal Pradesh Lindum Kia Kia who took 3 hours 1 minute and 56 seconds to complete the course.
Karate: Dorita, James win gold medals
On the second day of the Karate competition in the ongoing regional event, Manipur karatekas secured 2 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals.
K Dorita Chanu won the gold medal in the -45 kg kumite event as Soibam James won the other gold in the -50 kg senior men's kumite event.
Kh Madhushumita Devi won a silver medal in the +50 kg junior girls' kumite event while Ch Hitler (-50 kg junior boys), Ph Anandi Devi (-50 kg senior men's kumite), L Lucky (+55 kg boys kumite) and M Joychandra (-55 kg senior men's kumite) won bronze medals.
Archery: Sh Ramakanta Sharma, Ch Nelson, L Rojina emerge individual champions Sh Ramakanta and Ch Nelson were crowned individual men's champions in the Compound and Indian Round competitions as L Rojina took the women's Indian round individual title.
Ch Nelson shot highest 642 in the Indian Round (50+50) to seal the top honour as K Borish settled for the bronze medal with 636 points.
In the Women's Indian Round (50+50) Overall chart, L Rojina topped with 637 points, 2 points ahead of second placed M Baby Devi.
Sh Ramakanta emerged the overall winner in the Compound Men (50+50) event as he amassed 695 points while M Bikram Singh finished second with 691 points.
M Rupan and Ksh Manglemsana secured overall second and third placed titles with 672 and 669 points respectively.
In the men's recurve (70+70) event, N Subhachandra and T Sen Meitei emerged overall first and second with 664 points and 650 points.
In the Men's Compound Olympic Round event, M Bikram shot 145 points to win the gold as M Rupan shot 140 (10) to secure silver medal in the women's event.
Ksh Manglemsana was able to win the bronze with 142 points.
In the men's Compound team event, Manipur secured a silver medal with the team of Sh Ramakanta, M Bikram, Ch Bimol and U Akash stacking up 216 points to finish behind the Assam team who managed a total of 226 points.
The women's team of M Rupan, Ksh Manglemsana, Th Ishembi and K Pravahini in the meantime shot a similar total of 216 points to settle for another silver nedal as the Assam team with 218 points took the gold medal.
So far, Manipur are on top of the medal tally in Archery (without medals in recurve events) with a total of 8 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze medals.
Till the filling of this report, Assam are leading the medal tally with 74 gold, 54 silver and 47 bronze medals while Manipur are following closely with with 71 gold, 68 silver and 207 bronze medals.
