Imphal, November 15 2022:
Expressing gratitude to chief minister N Biren for double laning of the Imphal to Kakching Lamkhai road via Mayang Imphal (45 km) with paved shoulder under the Road Development Project, Joint Non-Government Voluntary Organisation (JNGVO), Kakching has urged the government to construct road dividers along the said route to prevent road accidents.
In a memorandum submitted to the CM on Monday, JNGVO pointed out that absence of road dividers from Kakching Lamkhai to Wangjing along NH 39 has caused many fatal road accidents including the death of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal Prof Dr P Pratita Devi on January 14, 2021 and Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West Y Somorjit Singh on January 31, 2022 .
Many such accidents may occur if the road divider is not constructed during the on-going improvement and development work of the NHs, it added.
