Drugs worth over Rs 1 crore seized

Security forces arrested three persons including a Myanmar National and recovered drugs worth over Rs 1 crore in two different incidents yesterday.
Following reliable information, at around 4.40 pm yesterday, personnel of the Mobile Check Post of 5 Assam Rifles at Mission Veng stopped two persons on a suspicious Kenbo bike at L Pholchom Village.
On searching, the personnel found 6 soap cases containing brown sugar.
The brown sugar with the soap cases weighing around 250 grams is worth around Rs 54 lakh in international market, said sources.
The two were arrested on the spot.
They have been identified as TS Rengshol Anal (38) and TS Omega Anal (31) of Larong khullen Village, Chandel district.
The seized items and the two have been handed over to Moreh police station for further legal actions.
In another incident, a combined team of Commando and 5 Assam Rifles including women personnel conducted a search at a house at Moreh Home Guard Veng at around 7.45 pm yesterday.
During the search, the security personnel arrested one Myanmar National and recovered 47 packets of WY tablets worth lakhs.
The WY tablets weigh around 920 grams and are worth around Rs 50 lakh in the international market.
The arrested Myanmar National has been identified as Mengkao Zou (52) of Tamu town.
The seized drugs and the person have been handed over to Moreh police station for further investigation, said sources while speaking to The Sangai Express further today.
