First Intellectual Property Rights Cell in Bishnupur district launched

Bishnupur, November 15 2022:
With the goal of educating people about patent rights, Mutum Yaiskul Meitei, IAS, Science and Technology Commissioner launched the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell, Mangolnganbi College Ningthoukhong today under the aegis of Patent Information Centre (PIC) Manipur Science and Technology Council, MASTEC.
It is worthy to note that this is the first IPR Cell established in Bishnupur district.
The function was attended by Mutum Yaiskul Meitei as the chief guest; RK Birjit Singh.
principal, Mangolnganbi College as the functional president and Dr L Minaketan Singh, Director, MASTEC as the guest of honour.
Speaking as the chief guest, M Yaiskul Mutum addressed instances where people of the State failed to obtain patent rights for their innovations with the result that said patent rights ended up in the hands of others.
In order to prevent a repetition of such unfortunate cases related to patent rights and copyright issues, the IPR Cell was launched, he said.
In this regard, he urged people to obtain the rights to their new innovations or age old indigenous products.
As a part of the function, L Surjit, PIC, MASTEC educated the gathering on how to obtain IPR and other relevant topics and also interacted with the audience.
