KIYG: State judokas finish runners-up as Kalpana captures gold, Sheetal takes bronze

Imphal, June 12 2022:
The state women's judo team finished runners-up as Manipur added one gold and one bronze medals to their tally at the Khelo India Youth Games on Sunday.
Irengbam Kalpana Devi clinched the gold medal in the women's -63kg category.
She defeated Sneha of Uttar Pradesh in their final duel.
Both Maharashtra's Gautami and Haryana's Neha shared the third place.
In the men's event, Ningthoujam Sheetal Singh settled for bronze in the -81kg category.
Ravi of Haryana emerged as the top finisher of the category after he got the better of Kush of Gujarat in their gold-medal clash.
Vicky of Punjab was another bronze medallist in the -81kg contest.
Manipur won seven medals that included four gold and three bronze over the course of the judo competition to finish runners-up.
The judo event wrapped up on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the state boxing team assured themselves of at least three silver medals after Bishwamitra Chongtham, Rabichandra and Graviya booked gold-medal bouts in their respective categories.
The trio's final matches will take place on Monday.
Manipur have so far collected 25 medals after adding two more medals, a gold and a bronze, to their tally on Sunday.
They hold on to their fourth place with 17 gold, three silver and five bronze medals.
Kerala, who are in fifth, are closing in on with 16 gold, 16 silver and 13 bronze medals.
Leaders Maharashtra are in real danger of being dislodged from the top of medal table by hosts Haryana.
Both states have claimed 41 gold medals.
Maharashtra stay at the top courtesy of their silver medal count but the top two are separated by just one silver medal with the leaders boasting 36 silver and the hosts 35 for now.
Haryana, meanwhile, have collected 44 bronze medals while Maharashtra fall behind with 30 bronze.
Karnataka sit above Manipur in third with 22 gold, 15 silver and 22 bronze medals.
