Union MoS assures aid to conserve Loktak

Imphal, June 12 2022:
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nisith Pramanik has assured all possible assis-tance to restore and conserve Loktak Lake and improve the livelihood of communities who depend on the fresh water lake.
The MoS also expressed his desire to upgrade the water sports facilities there.
Notably, Nisith Pramanik visited Loktak Lake today and he was accompanied by Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Loktak Development Authority (LDA) Chairman M Asnikumar Singh and other Central and State Government officials.
The MoS also visited INA Headquarters and its memorial hall at Moirang, Water Sports Centre, Tak-mu, Chaoba Hill, Karang Island and Sendra.

During the visit, Nisith Pramanik encouraged the athletes of water sports at Takmu and lauded them for their exceptional performance at various sporting events.
Govindas Konthoujam requested the MoS to upgrade the water sports facilities at Takmu and make it a part of Sports Authority of India (SAI) .
In response, Nisith Pram-anik asked the Minister to submit a detailed report to obtain support from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
The Union MoS said that he would visit the State again shortly to study Loktak Lake.
