Imphal, June 12 2022:
Suspicion of possible irregularities in the promotion of primary investigators to the post of sub-inspector in the Economics and Statistics Department of the state government has been raised.
Reports received by this daily said that services of 73 primary investigators, who were appointed on contract basis, were regularised by an order issued by the director of the department on November 29, 2016 subsequent to approval of the government.
Later, 33 out of the 73 primary investigators were promoted to sub-inspectors on July 3, 2020 based on the recommendation of a DPC held on February 24 of the same year.
As per Model Roster of 200 Points, 33 per cent of the promoted posts should be reserved, which is 2 per cent for SC and 31 per cent for ST.
Based on the recommendation, 22 out of the 33 promoted posts should belong to general/unreserved category, one to SC and 10 to ST.
However, 21 general and 12 ST candidates were promoted on July 3, 2020 showing that one post each from general and SC categories were deducted to accommodate two more seats for candidates belonging to ST category, sources added.
