Workshop / production of Manipuri Classical Dance kicks off

The inaugural function of a 20 days workshop cum production of Manipuri Classical Dance was held at Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy today.
The workshop cum production programme is organised by Lianda Folk and Classical Academy which is a dance institute cum performing unit.
The function was graced by Ajit Das, Chairman, Ranganiketan, Manipur, Laishram Nabachandra Singh, Vice-president, Lianda Folk and Classical Academy and Budha Chingtham, Chairman of Cultural Worker and Activities Forum (CWAF) Manipur as the presidium members.
Speaking as the chief guest, Ajit Das stressed on the need of training the young children about the rich heritage of Manipuri dance and music so that they carry the legacy forward.
He also commended Lianda Folk and Classical Academy for striving to promote Manipuri dance and music.
Further he appealed to all to extend best possible support to promote the Manipuri dance and music and to safeguard its unique identity.
As a part of the programme, group dance on Mao Jagoi, Taal Prabhandha, Surya Pranam recital by Naophangba Laishram, Hari Riha group dance, Roop Barnam recital by P Chingsanglakpa, Kom Jagoi and Basanta Raas were presented.
