Imphal, April 11 2023:
MPA-Thounaojam rode on an unbeaten half century from Ch Muhinikanta and 85 extras to overwhelm SDC-Laipham Khunou by 184 runs for their first Group B win in three matches in the ongoing 2nd MNCA U-14 Boys Tournament.
MPA, who won the toss and opted to bat first at PTRC Ground had a bright start with Chongtham Yiodish (47) and Rojit Thoudam (12) gathering 84 runs for the first wicket and finished their innings with an impressive total of 287 runs for 8 in 30 overs.
MPA then successfully bowled out SDC for a paltry total of 103 runs within 23.4 overs to pull off the massive victory.
After a steady start, SDC's Manish Kumar Nepal removed Yiodish for the first wicket in the 9th over but MPA kept the scoreboard ticking as SDC kept leaking extras even as Manish Kumar bowled out Thounaojam Ruman (22) for the second wicket in the 13th over and SDC skipper Nitara Maverick bowled out Rojit Thoudam (12) for the third wicket.

Manish Kumar Nepal (3/25) also went on to fetch a wicket and Nitara Maverick grabbed three more wickets (4/46) but could not contain Ch Muhinikanta who blazed off an unbeaten 51 runs off just 25 balls clobbering 10 fours late on to steer MPA to 237 runs for 8 along with Ch Priyokumar (9 not out) .
In the chase, SDC never looked in contention and kept losing wickets in quick succession as Chinglensana (3/19), Elangbam Sanatomba (3/19), Chongtham Sitaranjan (2/18) and Ch Priyokumar (2/12) wreaked havoc across their batting line up and restricted them to just 103 runs.
S Rishikanta (28) scored the highest for SDC as the other batters either returned on ducks or single digit scores.
Chinglensana of MPA who struck 35 runs off 30 balls and picked three wickets was declared man of the match.
