PTRC, AKSDO win as Women's T-20 Trophy kicks off

PTRC and AKSDO got off to winning starts as the 2nd MNCA Women's T-20 Trophy 2022-23 kicked off on Tuesday at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
AKSDO (Khangabok) started the day with a 37 run win over FORCE (Kshetrigao).
Put in to bat, AKSDO scored 122/8 in their 20 overs with Olebia Khundrakpam (23 not out) and Alish Thokchom (15) getting into double digits in their innings.
In reply, FORCE batted the complete 20 overs but fell short of the target after being forced to 85/8.Barkatun (28) and Mehanaz (24) were the only performers in the Kshetrigao side's run chase.
Moirangthem Daina and Alish Thokchom claimed two scalps each as Sofia Saikhom, Rabina Khundrakpam and Bijiya Khundrakpam took one apiece in AKSDO's victory.
Earlier, Khadija, Rahamatun and Neha snapped two wickets each while E Firdos Hasina and Sahani bagged one each for FORCE.
Later in the day, PTRC beat THAU by 21 runs.
PTRC opted to bat and set a 124 run target for their opponents.
In their innings, Ranjita Koijam top-scored for her team with 43.Lidangton Thokchom (27), RK Linthoingambi (20) and Chingkheileima Chanu (12) were notable batters for PTRC.
In the process, the Patsoi squad lost three wickets to Niruta Thoudam and one each to Priyanshree Hanglem, Aishwarika Moirangthem and Monica Ningthoujam.
PTRC then bowled out THAU for 103 with three balls to spare.
Their bowling attack saw RK Linthoingambi, Mani-macha Angom and Ranjita Koijam pick up two wickets each, with Chingkheileima Chanu, Tolika Laitonjam and Konsam Sayatombi accounting for one each.
For THAU, Niruta (29), Seterny (17), Kalpana (12) and Monica (11) scored in double figures but their efforts weren't enough.
Five cricket clubs are vying for the t ournament's top honour.
The teams include PTRC (Patsoi Part-IV), THAU (Thangmeiband), FORCE (Kshetrigao), PTCC (Patsoi Part-III) and AKSDO (Khangabok).
They will compete in round-robin matches which will run through April 19 before the final match takes place.
