High Court dismisses MLA Arunkumar's petitions

The High Court of Manipur on Tuesday dismissed three Miscellaneous Petitions (Election Petitions) filed by Wangkhei MLA Thangjam Arunkumar.
The three petitions, namely MC (Election Petition) No 67 of 2022, MC (Election Petition) No 135 of 2022, and MC (Election Petition) No 137 of 2022 (Refer Election Petition No 24 of 2022) filed by Arunkumar and mentioning Y Erabot and two others as respondents, were heard at the court of Justice A Bimol on Tuesday and dismissed altogether.
Applicant Arunkumar brought up the matter of maintainability in different aspects in all three petitions and appealed to the Court to remove the pleading against him in an election petition filed against him (Arunkumar) by respondent Y Erabot.
After listening to submissions of the petitioner, the court rejected the plea to dismiss the election petition against him, taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case, and further rejected the plea for relief grant.
It then dismissed all the applicants due to lack of merit.
The three Miscellaneous Petitions (Election Petitions) were first heard in the court of Manipur High Court Justice on March 29.Petitioner Arunkumar was represented by advocate HS Paonam and assisted by BR Sharma, while respondents (no 1) Y Erabot was represented by counsel S Chittaranjan, (no 2) Okram Henry by advocate Ajoy Pebam and (no 3) Rajkumar Priyobarta by advocate Ayangleima.
