Kamjong, April 11 2023:
The District Skill Mela 2023 Kamjong organised by District Skill Committee of Kamjong Deputy Commissioner was held on Tuesday at Kamjong Town Hall with an attendance of around 500 school-going students and youth of the district.
The programme was attended by Phungyar MLA Leishiyo Keishing as chief guest, Manipur Society for Skill Development mission director LN Kashung as the guest of honour, CO of 8 AR Sumeet Acharya as special guest and Kamjong DC Rangnamei Rang Peter as the functional president.
Around 20 training partners and various line departments of the district related to Information Technology, Textiles, Handloom and Handicrafts, Agriculture, Petrochemicals, Healthcare, Aviation, Tourism and Hospitality, Food-Processing, Bamboo-Cane, Beauty & Wellness, etc., exhibited their services and opportunities assured by opening stalls at the mela.
In his address, MLA Leishiyo said that today's youth have a wide range of possibilities and opportunities in their lives to indulge in whatever careers or fields they want to embark upon.
The key, however, is to find the right career choice that is best suitable to his/her own personality and passion.
"Programmes such as skill mela will give the right avenue to the youth of the district to 'know the unknown' career possibilities and they can inquire and enrol in the suitable fields that they want, and can consequently get themselves 'skilled'," added the MLA.
Speaking on the occasion, LN Kashung opined that, the youth population of our country is lacking in skill development aspects and this has kept the youth and the future of the country at a vulnerable scenario as youth are notably regarded as the 'future of the society'.
Citing that only 5 per cent of the country's youths are skilled as per data, he appealed to all the youth to get themselves skill development trainings in their chosen fields to secure their lives and the nation at large.
On the other hand, DC Rangnamei Rang Peter appealed to all the youth and students to extract maximum benefits from the mela and be fearless about clearing their doubts and to find out the unknown regarding career possibilities.
He expressed his gratitude to all the training partners for coming all the way to the remote Kamjong area to enlighten 'the youth of this part of Manipur' regarding career possibilities.
As a part of the programme, certificates of gratitude were handed over to the training partners by the dignitaries.
Students who have successfully completed the training courses on Basic Computer Applications conducted by the District Skill Committee were also felicitated.
