AR seizes brown sugar, no arrest made

Imphal, April 11 2023:
Churachandpur Battalion of Assam Rifles recovered and seized about 730 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 1.13 crore from T Khongkhai area yesterday.
Based on inputs received about contraband items being moved from across the India-Myanmar boundary, personnel of Churachandpur Battalion set up a mobile vehicle check-post at T Khongkhai village.
After noticing the presence of Assam Rifles troops in the area, an 'individual on a Kenbo bike moved towards Tuddim village and a bag slipped down from his shoulder', said a statement issued by PRO IGAR (South).
The PRO however did not clearly mention the escape of the man.

On reaching the site, the personnel found 18 soap cases containing brown sugar inside the bag.
The drugs along with the cases weigh 730 grams and are worth Rs 1.13 crore.
The recovered drugs have been handed over to Sangaikot police station for further necessary action, said AR.
Heroin seized : Kakching police seized 196 grams of heroin from Serou Lamkhai, today.
The heroin was reportedly brought by two persons in 16 soap cases and they have been arrested.
The two persons are Doungul Ngamkhomang (34), s/o Dongthang Haokip of New Wayang Village, Chakpikarong, Chandel and Lamjaneng Touthang (21), d/o Hemkhosei Touthang of Yangoulen Village, Moreh.
The heroin has been handed to Sugnu police station along with the arrested persons, said a well placed source.
